Please make sure you educate yourself on how to raise poultry before purchasing. We also recommend checking your city bi-laws to determine if chickens are allowed in your area.

If chickens are not allowed:

1. 1. Contact your city council to complain and ask for the regulations to be changed. -> Find support for your argument here
   2. If you can’t raise chickens you may be able to get away with quail. They are usually considered wild birds and are not on the list of animals you can not keep, but they will produce one small egg a day starting at one month old. Try Kijiji in your area to purchase.
   3. Are there many wild ducks in your area? Consider raising ducks. If anyone notices, claim they are wild ducks that just happen to like hanging out in your pond.
   4. Consider the risks and benefits; pros and cons and then do what you believe is right. You are a sovereign being who can decide for yourself whether or not something is right or wrong.

In addition to the hatcheries listed below, you may also be able to adopt chickens form your local SPCA.
